The ranking value a link can pass to its destination, often called link juice. Internal links move it around your own site.

What it is
Link equity is the informal name for ranking value passed from one page to another through a link. Google's original PageRank made this idea famous: a page earns importance from links and passes some onward. Modern ranking uses far more signals, but links still help search engines discover pages and understand which ones a site treats as important.
Use the concept when planning internal links, consolidating old URLs, or deciding which backlinks are worth pursuing. A contextual link from a relevant, trusted page is more useful than a pile of unrelated footer links. Clear anchor text also explains the destination better than "click here."
There is no public meter showing how much equity a link carries. The green Toolbar PageRank bar was the closest thing, and Google switched it off for good in 2016; every score you see now is a third-party estimate with a vendor's name on it. Link juice is also not a substance you can hoard. Adding nofollow to ordinary internal links does not funnel a fixed remainder into the links left followed. Build a navigable site and point strong pages at useful destinations instead of trying to sculpt PageRank mechanically.
