Presentment currency vs settlement currency
The currency charged to the customer versus the currency in which the payment provider settles the merchant's funds.

What it is
When a customer pays in one currency and your payout arrives in another, presentment currency names the charge and settlement currency names the funds you receive. They can match, or a conversion can happen between charge and payout.
Reach for this distinction when selling internationally or reconciling multi-currency payments. Store the original amount and currency, the settled amount and currency, the applied exchange rate, and each fee so finance can explain the exact payout.
Gotcha: the displayed price, charged currency, settlement currency, and merchant bank-account currency are separate choices and may involve more than one conversion. Refunds and disputes also refer back to the original transaction, so never overwrite its currency amounts with the latest exchange rate.

Implement multi-currency records for Stripe PaymentIntents, Balance Transactions, and Payouts that preserve presentment and settlement separately. Store the charge amount and currency, Stripe settlement amount and currency, payout bank currency, exchange rate, conversion timestamp, and itemized fees in minor units. Treat those values as immutable facts, reconcile them against Stripe balance and payout data, show conversion and fee differences to finance, and base refunds and disputes on the original payment record.
