Slip edit / slide edit
Slip changes which frames play inside a fixed clip slot; slide moves the whole clip while its neighbors absorb the timing change.

What it is
A slip edit keeps a clip in the same timeline slot and keeps its duration, but changes which source frames play inside it by moving its In and Out points together. A slide edit moves the whole clip earlier or later while preserving its duration; the outgoing edge of the clip before it and incoming edge of the clip after it adjust to fill the same total span.
Slip when a shot already occupies the right amount of time but shows the wrong moment, such as a glance that arrives late. Slide when the shot itself should happen sooner or later between fixed surrounding material. Premiere Pro's four-up display is useful here because it shows the changing source and neighboring edit frames together.
Gotcha: neither tool creates source footage. A slip needs unused frames before and after the selected source range, and a slide needs handles on both neighboring clips. Watch linked audio too: slipping picture without its synced sound can put lips and dialogue out of step.
