Ad creative
The actual image, video, or copy inside a paid ad: the part people see, as opposed to the targeting and budget behind it.

What it is
Ad creative is the part of a paid ad a human actually sees: the image, the video, the headline, the primary text, the thumbnail. Everything else in a campaign (budget, audience, bid, placement) decides who gets shown it. The creative decides whether they care.
Reach for the word when you need to separate 'the ad is not working' into its two halves. Same targeting plus new creative is a completely different test than same creative plus new targeting. Platforms want creative in sets: a static image, a 9:16 vertical video, a square crop, three headline variants, so one concept can fill Feed, Stories, Reels, and Search without looking stretched or cropped through the face.
Gotcha: a creative has a shelf life. Show the same one to the same audience long enough and performance decays (ad fatigue), which looks exactly like the algorithm turning on you. Also mind the safe zones: platform UI overlays the top and bottom of vertical video, so text parked there gets covered by a username and a Shop Now button.
Ask AI for it
Design a paid social ad creative set for [product] aimed at [audience]. Produce one concept in three crops: 1:1 feed, 4:5 feed, and 9:16 story/reel. Put the single benefit claim in the top third as large bold type (6 words max), keep the product visible and uncropped in the center, and use one high-contrast accent color for the call to action. Keep all text inside a 14% safe margin at the top and bottom of the 9:16 version so platform UI does not cover it. Also give me 3 headline variants (max 40 characters) and 3 primary text variants (max 125 characters) written in plain, non-salesy language.
