Model release / property release
The signed permission that clears a recognizable person or controlled property for specified commercial photo, video, or advertising uses.
What it is
A model release is signed permission to use an identifiable person's likeness for stated purposes. A property release records permission connected to recognizable private property, locations, artwork, pets, or other controlled subjects. Stock libraries such as Adobe Stock commonly ask contributors for releases when an image will be licensed commercially and the subject is recognizable.
Reach for releases during production, before the people leave and before the campaign scope hardens. Record who or what is covered, the permitted media and purposes, territory, duration, editing rights, compensation, credit, signatures, and a parent or guardian signature for a minor.
Gotcha: a release is not a copyright assignment and a property release does not magically clear every logo, artwork, architectural right, lease restriction, or permit. Match the signed scope to the final use. A release for a portfolio post may not cover packaging, paid ads, or training a commercial model.

Create a model-release and property-release package for the shoot described below. Produce separate forms that identify each person, guardian, owner, location, artwork, and asset; state the exact commercial purposes, media, territory, duration, editing rights, compensation, credit, revocation terms, and prohibited sensitive uses; and keep copyright ownership separate. Use Adobe Acrobat Sign webhooks to record the agreementId, signer identity, signature timestamp, and final PDF in the asset record. Create a release-status checklist that blocks unapproved uses and flags minors, trademarks, artwork, architecture, permits, and union talent as bracketed TODOs for counsel or production.
