What it is
Neobrutalism takes the raw honesty of web brutalism and makes it cheerful: flat saturated fills, 2 to 4px pure black borders on everything, and a solid black shadow offset down and right with zero blur. Nothing is subtle, which is the point. Gumroad's 2022 redesign, Figma's marketing pages, and a pile of Tailwind component kits made it the default indie SaaS look.
Reach for it when you need personality on no budget. Two CSS properties (a fat border and a blur-free box-shadow) plus a loud palette give a product a recognizable identity with no illustration, photography, or motion work. The detail that sells it: on press, shift the element a few pixels down and right and collapse the shadow, so the button physically stamps into the page.
Gotcha: loud fills read as high contrast but often aren't. Black text on lemon yellow passes, white text on the same yellow fails badly, and a full page of maximum-contrast blocks gives the eye nowhere to rest. The other trap is recognition: everyone has seen this now, so it reads as a template unless you push one variable (the typeface, the palette, or the shapes) somewhere unexpected.

Restyle this UI as neobrutalism. Every card, input, and button gets a 3px solid black border, a flat corner radius (0 or 4px), and a hard shadow with no blur: box-shadow: 6px 6px 0 #000.
